Prime Minister Viktor Orban will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin for talks in the Kremlin on Tuesday afternoon, MTI said.

Orbán’s visit was also announced to Russian journalists by Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesman, on Monday.

The agenda of the talks includes discussing major international issues and several of the bilateral economic projects whose implementation has continued despite the negative effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Both sides regard the Moscow summit as highly important considering the advanced level of bilateral relations, Havasi and Peskov said.

Coinciding with the Orbán-Putin meeting, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó will hold talks with Sergei Lavrov, his Russian counterpart.

As we wrote on Saturday, the US and a handful of allies are in discussions to deploy thousands more troops to Eastern European NATO countries, details HERE.

We wrote on Sunday, after a meeting of right-wing party leaders in Madrid, Orbán told journalists that he had appealed to everyone attending the meeting to take a stand for a peaceful resolution and de-escalation, details HERE.

  1. Trepidation – chills running down my SPINE ///
President Joseph. R. Biden of the United States of America – won’t be Amused.
Brand name Hungary – already on “Shakey Ground” – with the U.S.A. – and I’m no FAN of America – but we NEED them – for our NEEDS – this visitation by Prime Minister – Victor Orban – with all that is on Putins plate at this time, does FEAR me.

  2. They are doing good. Diplomacy is key, and increasing economic sanctions should be the method of dissuading Russia from military acts, while we are being vigilant and ready in military defence.

Orban and Putin are going to talk – good. The East has a lot to teach to the West, and vice versa. Hungary is in a place where it can mediate relations.

The whole world is in a monumental shift, civil conflict will occur as human social organization is in flux but we should minimize physical violence as a method of discussion about what kind of future we want to achieve.

  3. I agree with @Wrx as talks are important to avoid conflict. The threat of sanctions are also important to help dissuade Russia from military actions. All sides need to learn from one another as the way the West thinks that it is their “way or the highway” is wrong (we can see with the rise of China and other Asian powers).

The prevention of conflict is a priority.

  4. There is not one good reason why Hungary should support Biden’s and the West’s hysteria over Russia attacking Ukraine.

The Biden and the EU have done absolutely nothing but criticize Hungary, withheld COVID payments and forced Hungary to spend the last 4 years at the EU court. Hungary had to spend billions on the outer border to secure it from nomads who are 500 years behind social evolution. It was proven that the EU does not want illegals by leaving them stuck in Bosnia, Turkey, Greece and Serbia. The EU talks a good game but does not act.. This has all been done because Hungary does not acknowledge Brussels’ and American dictatorship. Hungary does not have one friend in Marxist European Union.

Hungary has no natural resources and energy is generated by atomic energy. As usual, there is great criticism from inane European greens.

Then. there is the relationship between Ukraine and Hungary. The government of Ukraine mistreats Hungarian ethnic minority. This small community survives because of the generosity of the present Hungarian government. Why would Hungary support a regime that oppresses her compatriots?

It has been a cold winter in Hungary. More gas is needed to heat the homes. Russia supplies gas. Presently, Russia is a better partner for Hungary than the EU.

Russia is a sovereign country, if it wants to attack Ukraine, let them. Hungary should stay out of all European wars, she has to recall her treatment after WWI, WWII and 1956 by the West.

  5. @mariavontheresa
Be assured we will let them annex your country right after they took Ukraine. How the fuck can we let people invaded by other in 2022. Feel also free to personally reimburse all the collected money from UE and ask some to russia.
Hopefully there is more intelligent peoples than you to compensate the futur of your country but I wonder where were you during the brain distribution

  6. @john
Mariavontheresa lives in Canada. Its quite an education to read her thoughts. Tries to present a balanced view but cant because many years of brainwashing. The last paragraph sums it up, Hungary should stay out of all European wars. A childish thing to say because its an impossibility.

  7. Comment by John – Concur.
The up-coming rapidly approaching National Elections April 2022 in Hungary – will be INTERESTING.
My opinion – not from 1989 – have the population – at present 9.6 million – Hungary – for there FUTURE – been faced with a DECISION – the magnitude – all its componentry – the decision of there Vote – in April 2022.
The National Elections of 2022 – as John – like a bit of “colour & movement’ in language usage – commented, deep brain thinking – NEEDED – not crap, like marievontheresa – that if beleived and practiced – would take Hungary – into a Perilous postion.

  8. To much Canadian Maple Syrup ///
They still produce 80% of it – shipped Globally.
Appears it could in the case of marievontheresa – damageing that “Frontal ” lobe ///
We all have Brain fade outs ///
Thats Life – but the comments made by marievontheresa – from a coglative perspective – WORRYING.

  9. It is funny to read all these big statements by Orbanistan’s regime people and the comments of their pathetic supporters, all of them childly thinking and writing and boasting about Hungary and Nato and the EU and the U.S.A. and Russia….as if Hungary were a superpower, as if Hungary could really decide, determine, negotiate etc…. just look at Ukraine, a country with four or five times the population of Hungary, and several times its size and, yet, Russia can swallow it in a matter of hours, just like they can swallow Hungary if they want, and just like the U.S. can put Orbán and all his fellow court mandarines to immediate retirement if they decide to.
Folks, you are way too big for your boots.
I am against war, and I hope Ukraine and Europe remain in peace, but there is a lot of truth in what john wrote here.
You are in Nato, fellows, like it or not, so just keep quiet, you want to stay neutral it is fine, but at least stop playing this game of keeping one foot in two shoes, for that is way a bigger and more dangerous game than you think, and Hungary has got no cards, nor chips to play it.

  10. I was totally amused by John’s, Paul’s, Norbert’s Mario’s and Bewildered & Concerned’ comments. None of the comments were constructive. It seems all men are capable of is calling people derogatory names and unable to have a logical conversation.

Gentlemen where are your facts that would contradict my statements?

Hungary needs “GAS” Russia supplies GAS.

Friendship with Russia and China protect Hungary from Brussel’s total dictatorship.
